Mike has over 30 years of experience in working in social work, social care and health settings, and has operated at all levels from basic social care worker through to senior management at director and CEO roles. He brings to his independent role a breadth of knowledge based on a background in both statutory and voluntary sectors, and since setting up his business in 2003 has also maintained strong private sector involvement. From initial employment in childcare and youth settings, Mike moved into a generic social work role before specialising in probation and after care; thereafter he worked in the voluntary sector disability world for over 20 years, prior to establishing the consultancy, research and training enterprise.

Mike has worked in training roles for over 25 years: as training manager, convenor of a training organisation, trainer, and as Open University Associate Lecturer and VQ Assessor. Mike will work with you to identify training need and create programmes.
Mike has carried out research in local authority, health, education, voluntary and private agency settings. His MSc dissertation examined user and provider perceptions on service quality criteria, and users and carers feature strongly to this day.
From experience working across social care, education, health and legal settings, as practitioner, manager and Board member, Mike is well equipped to carry out consultancy in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
Mike provides an independent report writing and expert witness service to solicitors. Typical commissions include work in relation to mental health tribunals and welfare guardianship cases, although Mike has provided reports in a wide range of circumstances.
