NOTE EXHIBITION EXTENDED TO 30TH JUNE
Award winning photographer David Cruickshanks has joined forces with fellow networker John Dare from Perth based Taylor’s Taxis to host the first ever photo art exhibition in a taxi office.
David and John came up with the idea at a recent BNI breakfast meeting after John mentioned that his taxi company waiting room had received a complete makeover and needed something for the newly painted walls . David who is currently taking photographs for Insight Guide books for their 2011 Scotland guidebook turned his lens on the beautiful but foreboding wilderness which lies just a few miles north of Perth. John liked the first images so much that he asked David to widen his horizons and a second shoot involved photographs taken from Glencoe and Rannoch Moor and it is a selection of these images that will be on show in the taxi office during Perth’s Festival of Arts from 26th May onwards.
John said yesterday “We moved into our new premises recently; just next door to the old Taylor’s Taxis and we wanted to give our valued clients a clean and welcoming environment in our waiting area, we put in a coffee machine and soft drinks vending and even a telly but we wanted something special for the walls so David agreed to exhibit his brilliant works of art in our office. David is well known for his celebrity portraits including the famous boxer Muhammad Ali and he has a portrait of Tony Blair in the National Portrait Gallery in London so we knew he would produce something special for us.”
David added“I love exhibiting in unique spaces and Taylor’s Taxis is perfect for an exhibition, it is much bigger than the average taxi waiting room, it is bright, well lit and even has refreshments available. I can’t wait to see the photographs on the walls.
David is hoping to update the pictures after a few weeks so that regular clients will see something new. The images which are for sale will go on display from May 26th
to coincide with Perth’s Festival of Arts. All images are for sale but the taxis are just for hire.
Picture editors and News editors are invited to send a photographer /reporter to the press launch of ‘Art in the Rank’

Last Wednesday's meeting - the second under the new leadership team - was another well attended morning with no absences from the members. We even saw some old members substituting for members, who commented on how the chapter had grown grown since they had last been there. Lachlan Gunn from Benalpin Finance - maybe it's time you rejoined our group again - he even picked up a referral from a member - so with BNI, even if you are not a member you can still receive business from the group.
As for the meeting itself, it was business as usual, with over 40 quality referrals being passed between us - well done to all!

SUPERSIZE ME BABY
BNI chums met for an informal social get together at the Lovat Hotel on Friday 26th March.
About 20 gathered to par-take in the current offer of "Steak Out" - 2 courses, 2 people including a choice of steak for £25 pounds per couple!
The deafening roar from around the table was for "SUPERSIZE!" "SUPERSIZE!" "SUPERSIZE!" Of course they meant the size of the beef - what else.
The night ended with interesting jokes from Tommy Cooper and why are there more holes in a pepper pot than a salt cellar. Answers please on the chapters Facebook site. The feedback the next day was one of many hangovers enjoyed by all.
Well here's to the next time! Cheers.
